‘1000 Heads and Skulls’

I regularly return to a place in Spain with a special stretch of beach. An elderly man there makes a life's work of decorating the rocks with remnants of tiles, exotic plants and stones with grotesque shapes. I like to make drawings of those strange stones.

On this beach the plan arose to combine earlier drawings, collages, graphic and photographic works of mine, on the subject of heads and skulls, with newer work, in an overarching project.

'1000 Heads and Skulls' comprises some 450 works so far; small works and large ones; in charcoal, paint, pencil and collage. ‘1000’ is not a utopia; there are plans to realize the remaining number of artworks over the next few years. What already exists and what is yet to come I will disclose here on my website and on Instagram, not necessarily in chronological order.
